Sports activity providers at Turf City, at Bukit Timah, have expressed concern that their current lease will be expiring in August 2011. The Urbal Renewal Authority and Singapore Land Authority have indicated that some or all of the 760,000 sq ft Turf City may be released for residential development.
Presently, the former home of Singapore Turf Club, is a hive of sporting activities. Besides, sports activity providers, there are also restaurants, car dealers and the hypermarket Giant.
In response to a letter from Phillip Taylor of Tanglin Rugby Club, the URA said: "We agree with Mr Taylor that the fields could be set aside for sports use in the interim and we will explore this with other relevant agencies."
